I hope you all had a good Christmas. I had a nice one. It was three days of celebrations, as well as guests staying at our house for a night. After all of that, I’m ready for a break. Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow, but such is life.
My publisher got my first round of edits to me and I’m both excited and sad. I don’t know about anyone else, but when I see comments or corrections, my heart sinks a little. I know I’m not perfect (not even close) but there’s a little part of me that wants them to congratulate me on writing a perfect manuscript. I’m not sure anyone in the history of books has ever written a perfect manuscript, and I’m guessing it’s not likely to happen, but the perfectionist in me wants me to break the mold. After doing a quick look through, it doesn’t seem too bad, though. I’m actually excited to get started. In my heart of hearts, I know I want my book to be the best it can be. I know this editing process is an important part to get it there.
The third book of my series is coming along slowly. Perhaps I’ll be able to focus on writing more this winter. Last year was so snowy it made it hard to find time to write since I was snow blowing constantly. Maybe we’ll luck out this year. Fingers crossed!
